The VDOT Workers' Memorial is silhouetted against the sky at dusk, just moments
before lights that illuminate the American and Virginia flags beside it are activated.

A VDOT Workers' Memorial has been built near Afton Mountain -- one of the state's most scenic sites on I-64 eastbound -- with contributions from VDOT employees and citizens.

The site provides a place where family members, friends, and colleagues can reflect on their loss and where the traveling public can become more aware of sacrifices made by state highway transportation workers.
