Virginia’s Interstate 295 is the 53-mile-long bypass of Richmond and Petersburg. It provides a path around both cities for I-95 traffic, and an east-west bypass around Richmond for I-64 traffic.

I-295 runs from the I-95 interchange south of Petersburg in Prince George County to the I-64 interchange near Short Pump in Henrico County.

Interesting Features

I-295 features the 4,680-foot Varina-Enon Bridge over the James River. It was the first cable-stayed bridge in Virginia, and one of the first in the world.
