Lane named assistant residency administrator for Lee and Scott counties

JONESVILLE, Va. - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced recently that Ronnie Lane has been named Jonesville Assistant Residency Administrator for Lee and Scott counties, replacing James Parsons who was recently promoted to Residency Administrator.

A 28-year veteran of VDOT, Lane began working with the agency as a part-time inspector in Scott County. During his career he has also worked as an equipment operator for the Nicklesville area headquarters; a foreman for the Nicklesville area headquarters; and area superintendent at the Moccasin Gap area headquarters.

Prior to his promotion, Lane served as contract administrator for the Jonesville Residency. He was involved in such projects as Route 72, the Gate City bridge reconstruction and the Route 58 widening in Duffield.

Lane is a 1973 graduate of Gate City High School in Gate City, Va., and he attended Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn.

“Ronnie Lane is known to many residents in Scott County as “Mr. Highway” because of his knowledge of VDOT,” James Parsons, VDOT Jonesville Residency Administrator, said. “He has a reputation for excellent customer service and we are fortunate to have his experience and skill in the assistant residency administrator position for Jonesville.”

As assistant residency administrator, Lane will assist in the oversight of transportation activities on over 1,440 miles in the two counties and supervise a workforce of about 120 employees.

Lane, a native of Scott County, is a second generation VDOT employee. His father, Walter Lane, worked with the department for 32 years.

Lane is married to Gwen McConnell Lane and they have two children, Hunter and Cole. The family lives in Gate City.
