Seven highway projects valued at approximately $3.3 million awarded for southwestern Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. – Seven highway contracts were recently awarded in the Bristol District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson and Wythe.

Patrick Construction, St. Paul, received a $938,309 contract to improve a section of Route 702 in Tazewell County, beginning .60-mile south of Route 644 and extending to Route 644.

Patrick Construction received two additional contracts: an $843,792 contract to replace the Alternate Route 58 bridge located over South Fork of the Powell River in Big Stone Gap and a $418,685 contract to widen 1.3-miles of Route 626 – Wolfe Chapel Road in Scott County.

W-L Construction & Paving, Inc., Chilhowie, received two contracts for projects in Lee County: a $525,945 contract to improve the sight distance on a section of Alternate Route 58 between Jonesville and Ben Hur, and a $295,705 contract to widen approximately one mile of Route 629 – Opossum Valley Road, beginning about a half-mile north of Alternate Route 58 and extending northward.

A $142,408 contract was awarded to A & P Services LLC, Pisgah Forest, NC, to install guardrail at various locations in Tazewell County.

Lastly, Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, received an $113,662 contract to spot-widen and pave approximately one mile of Route 655 – Penn Barrett Road in Russell County. (END)
