Transportation contracts recently awarded for southwestern Virginia

RICHMOND, Va. - Transportation Commissioner Philip Shucet recently awarded the following contracts for southwestern Virginia:

- A $243,378 contract was awarded to Cleco Corporation, Rosedale, to perform bridge repairs on Route 16 over the Route 19/460 Bypass in Tazewell County.

- A $321,944 contract was awarded to The Ruth Company, Lexington, Ky., to furnish and install guardrail at various locations on Route 75 in Washington County and Route 83 in Buchanan County.

- Estes Brothers Construction, Inc., Jonesville, received an $889,221 contract to replace the Route 72 bridge located over Tom’s Creek in Wise County.

- Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, received a $109,159 contract to extend left turn lanes at two locations on Route 19 in the Claypool Hill area of Tazewell County: at the eastbound intersection of Route 19/460 and 636 and the westbound lane of Route 19/460 at the intersection of Routes 19 and 460.

- A bridge replacement and roadway reconstruction project for Route 621 along Bear Creek in Wise County, valued at $1,592,710, was awarded to Estes Brothers Construction, Jonesville.

- Cleco Corporation received a $446,006 contract to repair two bridges in Smyth County located over Interstate 81: the Route 681 bridge and the Route 607 bridge.

- Lanford Brothers Company, Inc., Roanoke, received two contracts for projects in Lee County: a $396,138 contract to repair the Route 606 bridge over the North Fork Powell River, and a $286,415 contract to repair the Route 758 bridge over the Powell River.-

- A contract valued at $640,863 was awarded to Mac Construction, Inc., Oakwood, to pave at various locations on the following routes in Buchanan County:
o Route 654 – Spruce Pine Creek – 2.1 miles
o Route 645 – Rocklick Creek Road – 2.1 miles
o Route 639 – Wolf Pen Branch Road – 1 mile
o Route 619 – Leemaster Road – 1.8 miles
o Route 760 – Left Fork Leemaster Road - .30 mile
o Route 627 – Dry Fork Road – 1.35 miles
o Route 617 – Little Prater Road - .75 mile
o Route 642 – Roseanne Road – 2.2 miles
o Route 651 – Roseanne Road – 1 mile
o Route 662 – Boyd Ridge Road - .60 mile
