Five highway projects valued at $4.3 million approved for southwestern Virginia
RICHMOND, Va. – Five highway contracts were recently awarded in the Bristol District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson and Wythe.
Patrick Construction, Inc., St. Paul, received a contract valued at approximately $1.3 million to replace the Route 58 bridge in Damascus located over Laurel Creek, near the Damascus Baptist Church.
W-L Construction & Paving, Inc., Chilhowie, received two contracts valued at $745,004 and $841,607 for paving work at various locations in the 12-County Bristol transportation district.
A $734,079 contract was awarded to Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, to widen sections of Route 650 and pave approximately 2.8-miles of Route 650, between Routes 654 and 651.
Lastly, Estes Bros. Construction, Inc., Jonesville, received a $709,179 contract to perform grade and drainage improvements and pave a .85-mile section of Route 610 in Wise County.
