Slide repairs may create travel delays on Route 421 in Pennington Gap for the next two weeks (February 6 - 20, 2007)
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. – Beginning Tuesday morning (February 6) expect delays due to slide repairs on Route 421 in Lee County, at the intersection of Route 633 near the south corporate limits of Pennington Gap.
Flaggers will be controlling one-way traffic from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily to allow workers to perform the repairs. Additionally, be alert to the possibility of weekend work over the next two weeks.
Due to some blasting work, motorists may experience temporary stops of traffic. Use caution in this area and pay close attention to flaggers directing traffic through the work zone.
Large trucks can bypass the project by utilizing Alternate Route 58 from Jonesville or from Big Stone Gap. Passenger vehicles can detour around the project by using Route 630, which connects to Route 421 and to Alternate Route 58 between Pennington Gap and Dryden.
