Eight highway contracts awarded for southwestern Virginia

 

RICHMOND, Va. – Eight highway contracts were recently awarded in the Bristol District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). The Bristol District consists of 12 counties in southwestern Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson and Wythe.

 

Fort Chiswell Construction Corporation received a contract valued at approximately $1.9 million to repair the Route 19 bridge in Tazewell County located three miles east of Route 460.  There will be width restrictions on Route 19 due to this project, scheduled to begin in March. 

 

A contract valued at approximately $1.7 million was awarded to C.L. Dale Construction Services, LLC, Lebanon, to widen and pave Route 622 in Smyth County, from just north of the intersection of Route 16 to 1.19-miles south of Route 686 South.

 

Elk Knob, Inc., Pennington Gap, recently received four contracts:

-         A $1.4 million contract to widen two miles of Route 600 in Grayson County from Route 751 to Route 58.

 

-         A $519,356 contract to widen a half-mile section of Route 607 in Dickenson County from Route 764 to the Buchanan County line.

 

-         A $412,499 contract to repair the Route 21 bridge over the New River and Route 700 in Grayson County, and the Route 676 bridge over the New River near the intersection of Route 619 in Wythe County. 

 

-         A $228,283 contract to repair the Route 72 bridge over Cranes Nest River located just south of Route 634 in Dickenson County, and the Route 1202 bridge located over Route 63 and near the intersection of Route 1206 in Wise County. 

 

Lastly, Slurry Pavers, Inc., Glen Allen, received two contracts valued at approximately $1.8 million combined for paving at various locations throughout the 12-county Bristol district.  (END)
