McKeever named to VDOT Assistant Residency Administrator post for Lee and Scott counties

JONESVILLE, Va?>.
- The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) recently announced the
addition of Stephen McKeever to the Jonesville Residency, where he will work as
Assistant Residency Administrator for Lee and Scott counties. McKeever comes to Jonesville from VDOT’s Bedford Residency. He served as the land development
engineer for over two years and as the permits and subdivision specialist for
over two years. Prior to coming to
the Bedford Residency, McKeever worked for 15 years in VDOT’s Lynchburg District
as a highway designer.
In his new roll, McKeever will help oversee the
residency’s land development projects, preliminary engineering for secondary
routes and the residency’s $6.3 million budget for maintenance.
A native of Big Stone Gap, McKeever is a 1979 graduate of
Powell
Valley High
School.
He received an associate degree in drafting and design from Mountain
Empire Community College in 1987 and an associate degree in civil engineering
from Central Virginia Community College in Lynchburg in 1992.
As Assistant Residency Administrator, McKeever will help oversee
transportation activities on approximately 1,525 miles in the two counties and
supervise a workforce of about 85 employees.
"I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve the residents of Lee and Scott counties in this new role," McKeever said. "I am looking forward to serving in the region where I was raised."
McKeever is married to Cynthia Lyke, also a Powell Valley graduate, and they have one son,
