Travel Advisory: conditions begin to improve in southwestern Virginia
Wednesday, February 27, 2008 - 3 p.m.

BRISTOL, Va. – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports conditions have improved on some area roadways since our last report: 

-            Interstates 81 and 77 are clear.

-            The majority of primary and secondary routes in Lee, Scott, Wise and Dickenson counties have scattered snow and ice patches.

-            In Bland County, snow and ice patches remain on Routes 52, 61 and 598.  Secondary routes remain snow-covered.

-            Scattered snow and ice patches remain on the majority of primary and paved secondary routes in Tazewell County.  Unpaved secondary routes remain snow-covered.

-            In Smyth County, snow and ice patches remain on Route 16, 42 and the majority of secondary routes.

-            Snow and ice patches remain on Route 58 and the majority of secondary routes in Washington County.

-            Secondary routes in the Volney area of Grayson County remain snow-covered.  Route 58 and the majority of secondary routes have scattered snow and ice patches.

-            Snow and ice patches are reported on secondary routes in the Speedwell area of Wythe County.

-            In Buchanan County, Route 609 and the majority of secondary routes have snow and ice patches.  Secondary routes in the Big Rock area remain snow-covered.

-            Route 80 and the majority of secondary routes in Russell County have scattered snow and ice patches.
