65 SECONDARY ROADS IN THE DISTRICT CLOSED BY FLOODING
Following last night’s heavy rains, at least 65 secondary roads in VDOT’s Culpeper District were reported closed late this morning (Dec. 11) due to high water.
Of the nine counties in the district, Fauquier appeared to have been hardest hit with widespread flooding affecting at least a segment of 26 of its secondary roads.
The Culpeper Residency reported 16 roads closed in Culpeper County, nine closed in Orange and three in Madison.
High water also closed seven roads each in the counties of Albemarle and Louisa, two in Greene and one in Fluvanna.
Those reports were expected to change throughout the day as waters recede in some places while other streams reach flood levels.
VDOT maintenance crews will continue to check areas prone to flooding, putting up warning signs and cleaning debris as necessary.
