Hot spots
VDOT HOT SPOTS
Delays or changes in traffic patterns due to road construction/maintenance activities may occur next week
at the following locations:
ALBEMARLE COUNTY/City of Charlottesville
I-64 eastbound
- Lane closure at milepost 126 (over Rte 22 and CSX railroad) Tues. thru Thurs. (May 20 thru May 22) due to bridge painting operations.
I-64 westbound
- Bridge painting operations beginning on Thurs., May 22 at milepost 127 (over Rte 22 and CSX railroad). The contractor will plan his work so that only the shoulder will be closed during the holiday week-end.
Route 626/Langehorne Rd
- The road will be closed to thru traffic between Rte 6 and Rte 627 from Tues., May 20 through Fri., May 23 to replace the bridge over Rock Castle creek.
CULPEPER COUNTY
Route 647 (approx. 1 mi. west of Rte 680)
- Replacing bridge over Brook Run. Est. completion date: Fall 2003.
Route 729
- Grading and drainage operations from intersection with Route 229 to approx. 1.5 mi. north. Traffic controlled by flaggers. Est. completion date: Fall 2003.
Route 799 (north of Rte 3 to Rte 699)
- Grading, drainage and paving operations. Minor delays likely at Rte 699 intersection. Est. Completion date: Fall 2003.
Old Rixeyville Road – Town of Culpeper
- Bridge replacement project at Mountain Run. The road is closed to all traffic (until approximately Dec. 2003) from Williams Street to Culpeper Christian School.
FAUQUIER COUNTY
**Route 17/29 intersection at Opal
- On Sat., May 17, between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., expect lane closures leading to and through the intersection northbound due to paving operations. Delays likely.
I-66 westbound- Marshall area
- Paving operations beginning at Route 709. The contractor will work during daylight hours, stopping his operations between the hours of 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
I-66 eastbound – Marshall Area
- Paving operations beginning at Route 732. The contractor will work during daylight hours, stopping his operations between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 9 a.m.

FAUQUIER COUNTY (continued)
Route 15/29 (between the Culpeper County line and Route 28)
- Paving and placing pavement markings Mon. –Thurs. (May 19 –22)
Route 215 (Vint Hill Road)
- Constructing connections at each end of the project. One-lane traffic during the day.
Route 737 (Conde Road)
- Closed to through traffic between Rte 780 and Rte 764 beginning on Mon., May 19 to replace the bridge over South Run. Est. completion date: October 2003.
Route 1405 (Cedar Run Drive in Warrenton)
- Adding turn lane. One-lane traffic during the day.
FLUVANNA COUNTY
Route 761
- Pavement repairs at various locations.
GREENE COUNTY
Route 604
- Paving operations Mon. through Fri. (May 19-23); one-lane traffic controlled by flaggers and pilot truck during daylight hours. Expect delays.
LOUISA COUNTY
- Bridge repairs on Route 604 (over I-64) and on Route 609.
- Pavement surface treatment on Routes 690, 700 and 701.
MADISON COUNTY
Route 29 northbound (3 mi. north of the Greene county line)
- One lane traffic for approx. ½ mi. during daylight hours due to construction of turning lane and reconstruction of guardrail. Est. completion date: July 2003.
Route 625 (from Rte 607 to Rte 726)
- Grading, drainage and paving operations. Traffic controlled by flaggers. Est. completion date: Fall 2003.
ORANGE COUNTY
Route 33 (at Rte 607)
- Grading, drainage and paving operations. Traffic controlled by flaggers.
Route 611 (west of Rte 620 to Rte 692)
- Grading, laying pipes and widening pavement. Traffic controlled by flaggers.
Route 692 (from Rte 660 to Rte 651)
- Widening abutments. One-lane traffic.
Route 758 (between Rtes 692 and 755)
- Road reconstruction. Traffic controlled by flaggers.
Route 1004 (from Rte 33 to 0.05 mi. west Rte T-1002 – Town of Gordonsville)
- Widening operations; intermittent road closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Est. completion date: September 2003.
**Paving and shoulder repair operations scheduled for Route 617 (between Rte 20 and Rte 666) for Mon. thru Thursday (May 19 –22) and Route 625 (from Rte 20 to end of state maintenance) on Fri., May 23.
RAPPAHANNOCK COUNTY
Route 1001 – Sperryville
- One-lane traffic during daylight hours as work begins to install pipe and improve drainage. Estimated completion date: August 2003.
