SOME SECONDARY ROADS REMAIN CLOSED

Several secondary roads in Albemarle County remain closed this afternoon following heavy rains last night and again this morning. Route 20 south of Charlottesville, however, has been reopened to traffic.
While some of the water was receding, clogged pipes unable to handle the downpours, tree limbs and overflowing streams continued to challenge crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) striving to reopen the roadways in the southern part of the county.
At 3 p.m. the list of secondary roads still closed in Albemarle County included the following:
Route 715 between Rte 6 and 753 and between Rte 719 and 607; Route 708 between Rte 627 and Rte 795; Route 626 between Rte 20 and Rte 6 and between Rte 6 and Rte 627; Route 712 between Rte 633 and Rte 719 and between Rte 717 and Rte 627; Route 713 between Rte 712 and Rte 795; Route 726 between Rte 845 and Rte 625; Route 795 between Rte 620 and Rte 708 and between Rte 713 and Rte 708; Route 622 between Rte 773 and Rte 761; Route 627 between Rte 727 and 795; Route 729 between Rte 728 and Rte 53; Route 620 between Rte 795 and Rte 728; Route 737 between Rte 726 and Rte 6; Route 704 between Rte 714 and the end of state maintenance.
