Hearing Set for Route 250/Route 22 Intersection

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing September 29 on the proposed realignment of the intersection of Route 22 and Rt. 250 in Shadwell. The hearing will be held from 5 – 7 p.m. at the VDOT Charlottesville Residency, 701 VDOT Way, off Rt. 250 in Shadwell.
Under the plans, motorists driving on Rt. 22 would still use the slip ramp to access Route 250. Drivers on Route 250, however, would access Rt. 22 by way of a traffic signal. The plan also calls for widening Rt. 250 to allow for left and right turn lanes. The entrance to Luck Stone quarry would also be relocated to match up with the traffic signal.
The project is estimated to cost $1.3 million and construction could begin by the winter of 2007.
