Hearing Set for Rt. 29, Vint Hill Road Intersection

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing on Thursday, October 14 to present the proposed realignment of Vint Hill Road where it intersects with Route 29.
The hearing will be held at the C. Hunter Ritchie Elementary School from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Under one proposed plan, Vint Hill Road would be shifted 1,300 feet to the south of its present location and intersect with the existing crossover. A second alternative would keep the road in its current location and install a traffic signal at the intersection. This plan would also include significant sight distance improvements to Route 29 and turn lanes. The third alternative is a no-build.
Moving the road would cost an estimated $13 million, while the traffic signal and other improvements to Route 29 would cost an estimated $21 million.
Copies of the plans are available at the Warrenton VDOT Residency, 457 E. Shirley Ave., Warrenton, or the VDOT District Office, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper.
