Bathrooms at I-64 Afton Mountain Rest Areas Closed

AFTON – The bathrooms at the rest areas on Interstate 64 near Afton Mountain (Milepost 105) have been closed due to problems with the plumbing and waste treatment system. The contractor responsible for maintaining the rest areas has placed portable toilets at both rest areas as a temporary measure.

The contractor, with assistance from the Virginia Department of Transportation, is working through the weekend to repair the system and reopen the rest areas as soon as possible for holiday travelers.
