Penola Road to be closed during construction of new bridge over Polecat Creek (Caroline County)
On Wednesday, November 17, Route 601 (Penola Road) will be closed to traffic while crews begin construction of the new bridge over Polecat Creek. The road will remain closed until Spring 2005.
UCI-Virginia, Inc. was awarded a $1,077,771 contract to replace the existing structure, which is classified as structurally deficient with a new concrete structure. The new structure will have 22’ of pavement with 4’ shoulders and a 4’ ditch and improved approaches. This project expected to complete in October 2005.
Route 601 is often used a detour route for Route 301; therefore, a detour through the Town of Milford will be posted during construction.
