Area road conditions are improving. Crews are beginning to work on the secondary and subdivision streets. However, with temperatures expected to fall after dark tonight crews will again focus on the interstate, primary routes, bridges and overpasses to treat areas that may refreeze. The following conditions exist in the northern region of the Fredericksburg District which includes the Caroline County area, the King George area and the northern portion of the Northern Neck area:
• Interstate - clear to minor conditions with slick spots especially at ramps, bridges and overpasses
• Primary and High volume secondary – clear to minor conditions exist with some slick spots
• Low volume secondary and subdivisions – moderately covered – crews are beginning to work in these areas.
Crews will be working around the clock in two 12 hour shifts and will continue to do so until area roads are reported as clear.
Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution when traveling on area roads. Wet pavement may have some slick spots and may refreeze after dark.
