Route 697 in Richmond County closed to traffic due to slope failure

Effective immediately, Route 697 in Richmond County is closed to traffic between Route 360 and Route 1101, due to slope failure.
Motorists are being detoured to Route 686 and back to Route 697.
Investigation into the cause of the failure is being conducted to determine what repairs will be necessary.
No date for re-opening of the roadway has been determined at this time.
