UPDATE
All lanes of I-95 south near Fredericksburg remain closed due to early morning crash
(All traffic detoured to Route 1 at Exit 110 (Rt.639/Ladysmith) - Expect delays )
FREDERICKSBURG – All southbound lanes of I-95 remain closed after an earlier morning crash just south of Exit 110 (Rt. 639/Ladysmith) in Caroline County.
Crews have cleared the interstate of all vehicles that were in the vicinity of the accident scene. Fire crews are treating the fire with foam. When the fire is extinguished and the wreckage removed, VDOT will inspect the pavement for damage before reopening it to traffic. No estimated time of reopening has been established at this time.
Route 1 is the designated alternate route and all traffic must exit the interstate at Exit 110 (Rt. 639/Ladysmith). At this time, there is an approximate 4 mile back-up on southbound I-95 and traffic is very slow on Route 1. Traffic signal technicians have adjusted the signal timings along the Route 1 corridor.
