Interstate paving is set to begin near Fredericksburg
(Motorists should expect overnight delays)

Paving season is just around the corner.  Beginning Monday, May 5, VDOT will begin overnight paving work on the interstate.  This will mean delays for night time travelers in the Fredericksburg area for the next several weeks.

Crews will begin milling and paving the southbound lanes of  I-95 beginning just south of the Prince William County line to just north of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville).  Then the operation will move just a little further south to just south of Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville) to just north of Exit 140 (Rt. 630/Stafford).

Crews will work, weather permitting,  Monday – Thursday nights; mobilizing each night along the shoulder at 8 p.m. A single lane closure will be put in place beginning at 9 p.m. and a second lane will close at 10 p.m.  All lanes will be open to traffic by 4:30 a.m. each day.

VDOT will monitor traffic flow during this work to insure that motorists do not experience extensive delays.
