Traffic Pattern Change Scheduled for Hampton Next Week

HAMPTON, Va. - A new traffic pattern at the Mercury Boulevard/I-64 interchange will take effect beginning next week.

Crews will close the existing loop from Interstate 64 east to Mercury Boulevard north. Motorists will instead use a new ramp in place that eastbound traffic currently uses to head south on Mercury Boulevard.

After the loop closes, traffic headed both north and southbound on Mercury Boulevard will use the same ramp. A traffic signal at the end of the ramp will direct traffic. Traffic headed towards the Hampton Coliseum, for example, will turn left at the end of this ramp.

The work to make this switch is scheduled to begin Monday, April 21 during the overnight hours and take about two days, weather permitting.
