VDOT to hold public hearing on Hampton Roads Six-Year Plan
MEDIA ADVISORYWHAT: Public hearing on the Hampton Roads portion of the Six-Year Improvement Plan
WHY: The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) is committed to creating and maintaining the best transportation system possible in Virginia. This spring, the CTB is updating the Virginia Transportation Six-Year Program for Fiscal Years 2004 through 2009. The CTB’s top priority is using available funding to complete projects in the current streamlined plan. However, the CTB wants community feedback to help identify critical rail, transit, bicycle, pedestrian and highway (except secondary roads) needs for the future.

WHO: Commonwealth Transportation Secretary Whittington (Whitt) W. Clement, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Commissioner Philip Shucet, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (VDRPT) Director Karen J. Rae and Hampton Roads CTB members Harry T. Lester and Helen Dragas.
Citizens who plan to speak at the meeting will be asked to register upon arrival. Public input will be
received in alphabetical order starting with Accomack County. Speaking time will be limited. If
citizens are unable to attend the meeting, VDOT will accept written comments up to ten days following
