MAGRUDER BOULEVARD BRIDGE OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC I-64 Eastbound Access Ramp Open

HAMPTON – The Virginia Department of Transportation and contractor E.V. Williams restored full access to the Magruder Boulevard Bridge this morning. At 10 a.m., the barrels blocking the left lane of the bridge were removed. Drivers can once again use the Magruder Boulevard Bridge to access I-64 eastbound.

Motorists who normally use the bridge to enter I-64 eastbound have been using a detour since the old bridge was closed and demolished in 2002. That detour featured a temporary turn lane and traffic signal on Hampton Roads Center Parkway near the Big Bethel Road intersection. VDOT will leave the temporary turn lane and signal will in place for two more weeks after the bridge reopens as motorists adjust to the restored traffic pattern at the bridge.
