TWO BOATS IN SERVICE AT JAMESTOWN-SCOTLAND FERRY
WILLIAMSBURG – Two boats are in service at the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry. High tides had prevented both ferries from running.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) temporarily suspended service at the ferry beginning Wednesday morning. High waters caused by heavy rain and wind were preventing the loading ramps on the docks from safely being raised and lowered onto the ferry boats. The Pocahantas is running on schedule, and the Virginia is off schedule by approximately 15 minutes. The Fall/ Winter Ferry Schedule is posted on the VDOT website.
For updates on ferry service, motorists can call the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY. For more information about other VDOT maintained roads, motorists can tune into 610AM, dial 511 or visit .
