VDOT ASKS FOR FEEDBACK ON PROPOSED IRONBOUND ROAD IMPROVEMENTS
Public Hearing scheduled for tonight in James City County
JAMES CITY COUNTY – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing Wednesday, June 28 on the preliminary plans for roadway improvements to Ironbound Road in James City County. The public hearing will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Berkley Middle School, 1118 Ironbound Road in Williamsburg.
The proposed improvements are on Ironbound Road (Route 615) between Strawberry Hill Road (Route 616) and Longhill Connector Road (Route 615). They include widening portions of the road from two lanes to four, with two travel lanes in each direction, intersection improvements, additional turn lanes, and a shared use recreational path. Additional travel lanes will decrease congestion throughout the area, and provide a safer roadway for motorists.
Representatives from VDOT and James City County will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and gather input from the public. The meeting will be an open style format with no formal presentation. Citizens are invited to attend at their convenience, ask questions and offer comments for the record.
Additional information about this project is available for review at VDOT’s Williamsburg Residency Office located at 4451 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23188. Citizens are encouraged to give their written or verbal comments at the hearing or submit them by July 8, 2006 to Mr. Adam Jack, P.E., District Preliminary Engineer at 1700 North Main Street, Suffolk, VA 23434.
