VDOT CREWS WORKING TO RESTORE FERRY SERVICE
SURRY – The Jamestown-Scotland Ferry remains out of service this evening. Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) crews are working to ensure that conditions are safe to reopen the vessels to the public.Jamestown-Scotland Ferry service was suspended at 9 a.m. as a result of high waters from tropical depression Ernesto.
The road leading to the ferry has been washed out as a result of today’s storm. When the waters recede and repairs can be made, ferry service will resume.
The ferry normally operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For updates on the service, call the ferry hotline at 1-800-VA-FERRY.
For more information about other VDOT-maintained roads, tune to 610 AM, dial 511 or visit VirginiaDOT.org.
