BURNT MILL ROAD BRIDGE REOPENS IN SURRY COUNTY
SURRY - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reopened the Burnt Mill Road (Route 628) Bridge in Surry County on Friday, January 5 at 1:30 p.m. An October Nor’easter washed out the embankment and westbound approach to the 100-foot bridge, which was subsequently closed.VDOT secured an emergency contract to repair 350 feet of embankment and the approach. Toano-based Bryant Contracting completed the project 21 days ahead of schedule at a cost of $223,000.
