VDOT HAS TEMPORARILY CLOSED PORTIONS OF SOUTH BATTLEFIELD BOULEVARD AND I-64 WEST

Lane closures will be in place until tomorrow morning
CHESAPEAKE - The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has temporarily closed two right lanes of Battlefield Boulevard South and all of Interstate 64 West at the Battlefield Boulevard overpass to fix a portion of the Battlefield Boulevard bridge.
Two concrete girders and a section of the bridge were damaged earlier today.
Contractors plan to remove the damaged part of the bridge tonight and adjust the lanes in order to open two lanes on Battlefield Boulevard South that carry motorists over the bridge by tomorrow morning.
Workers also plan to open I-64 West tomorrow morning.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to detour off of I-64 onto the Interstate 464 interchange north, and take Military Highway North to Greenbrier Parkway and enter I-64 West at the Greenbrier Interchange.
