ROUTE 621 BRIDGE CLOSED FOLLOWING INSPECTION

The Route 621 Bridge over the Appomattox River at the Cumberland/Amelia County line has been closed following a regularly scheduled structure inspection results of which indicated the necessity for the closure.

The following detour is in place: from Route 621 in Cumberland County: take 13 East into Powhatan County. Then, turn right onto Route 681 South; turn right, again, onto Route 616. Next, take a right onto Route 644 and follow until you reach Route 621, again.

Routine bridge inspections are used to ensure that Virginia bridges remain safe for motorists. When bridge inspectors find any safety concerns, bridges are immediately posted to reduce weight limits or closed until necessary repairs are made.
