Traffic Advisory: Temporary Traffic Shift on Route 123 Begins January 9 between Palmer Drive and Cross Chase Court – Expect Minor Delays
Beginning Thursday, January 9, motorists on Route 123 can expect minor delays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. as a 700-foot section of roadway between Palmer Drive and Cross Chase Court is reduced to a one-lane configuration with alternating northbound and southbound traffic, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The traffic shift is necessary for crews to complete the installation of a 42-inch water main for the Fairfax County Water Authority and will allow the water main to be installed and operational much earlier than originally planned.
The traffic shift will be in effect Thursday and Friday only, weather permitting. Work will be completed no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, January 10.
Message boards have been installed to alert motorists and flaggers will direct traffic around the construction.
