Shelburne Glebe Road Re-opens by Aug. 1
Shelburne Glebe Road at Goose Creek will re-open to motorists August 1, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. VDOT has replaced the temporary one-lane bridge that was installed 10 years ago after a flood destroyed the original structure in the early 90’s.
"We're pleased that the county and VDOT were able to work together on the design of the permanent bridge, which is sensitive to the rural character of Shelburne Glebe Road," said Terrie Laycock, Assistant Loudoun County Administrator.
The temporary bridge was replaced with a two-lane, truss bridge similar in appearance keeping with the historic nature of the original bridge. The new bridge is approximately 100 feet long and 20 feet wide to meet the needs of emergency vehicles and farm equipment.
DLB, Inc. of Hillsville was the contractor for the $750,000 project.
