Smoketown Road Safety Improvement Begins March 1

The Virginia Department of Transportation will begin a $200,000 safety improvement project on Smoketown Road on March 1, four months ahead of its original schedule.

Crews will add a left-turn lane from northbound Smoketown Road to westbound Old Bridge Road. Motorists should expect minimal impacts during the month-long construction project, as work will be performed in the median.

“The new turn lane and left turn signal will bring much needed relief to an area that has seen an increase in traffic over the last several years,” said John DePasquale, Assistant District Engineer for Construction.


This is one of approximately $120 million worth of construction projects VDOT is scheduled to begin this year in Prince William County.
