VDOT to Construct Two Road Projects in Prince William County
The Virginia Department of Transportation will begin construction this month to build the East-West Connector (University Blvd.), a nearly mile-long, four-lane divided highway connecting Wellington Road and Route 29. It is the first phase of rebuilding Route 29 interchange at Gainesville in Prince William County.
General Excavation, Inc. of Warrenton was awarded an $11.2 million contract to complete the project by July 2006.
In addition, work will begin in March on the last phase of the 11-mile widening of Route 234. A $20.7 million contract has been awarded to Lane Construction Corporation of Meriden, Conn. to widen more than three miles of Route 234 from two to four lanes from Eclipse Drive to Country Club Drive. The widening will be completed in July 2007.
