Independent Panel to Review Huntington Flooding

VDOT is conducting an internal review to determine the extent to which the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project may have contributed to flooding a neighborhood in Huntington, Virginia Secretary of Transportation Pierce Homer announced today.



“Following the flooding, I directed the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge project staff to conduct an internal review of this matter,” Homer said. “Once that review is completed in September, it will be submitted to an independent panel which will include representation from the academic community as well as citizen representatives.”



All materials generated by the internal review will be made available to Fairfax County and the Army Corps of Engineers.



Members of the panel will be named in September.
