MEDIA ADVISORY At-Grade Crossing Removed at W&OD Trail and Church Road

WHAT: Ribbon cutting to celebrate the reopening of the W&OD trail

WHEN: Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2006
10:30 a.m.

WHY: The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will open a
new section of the W&OD bicycle trail under Church Road on
Aug. 1. Crews removed the at-grade crossing and built a trail
under Church Road so that cyclists and trail enthusiasts will no
longer have to cross paths with vehicles.

WHO: VDOT, Route 28 Corridor Improvements, LLC, Sen. Mark Herring, Loudoun County Supervisor Mick Staton, former Sen. Charles Waddell, members of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority and Virginia Bicycling Federation.

WHERE: W&OD trail off Church Road in Loudoun County

From Route 28: Take ChurchRoad/VA-625 East. Turn left on Ruritan Circle at the traffic signal. Guests will be directed to parking by flaggers from Ruritan Circle .
