Traffic Advisory: Linton Hall Road Detour and Traffic Switch

Traffic on Linton Hall Road between New Wellington Road and Bridlewood Drive will be shifted to the newly completed future northbound lanes starting at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, according the Virginia Department of Transportation. The new traffic pattern will allow crews to construct the future southbound lanes.

In addition, Glenkirk Road will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22 until 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 so that crews can add several layers of asphalt to raise the grade of Glenkirk Road to match Linton Hall Road.

Motorists must use an alternate route to access Glenkirk Road from Linton Hall Road as well as from Glenkirk Road to Linton Hall Road. Roadway message signs are in place on Linton HallRoad and Glenkirk Road alerting motorists of the upcoming detour and traffic switch. VDOT will have a well marked detour in place for motorists not familiar with the area.

The $34 million Linton Hall Road widening project began in May 2005 and will be completed in fall of 2007.
