VDOT to Open University Boulevard in Gainesville New road opens by 4 p.m. Monday
WHAT/WHY: Ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of University Boulevard, a new connector road near the I-66/29 interchange in the traffic choked Gainesville area. The $11.2 million, $1.3-mile, four lane road connects Wellington Road and Route 29.
WHEN: Monday, Aug. 28, 2006
10:30 a.m.
WHO: VDOT, Congressman Tom Davis, Delegate Bob Marshall, Prince William Board of Supervisors Chairman Sean Connaughton, Supervisors John Stirrup, John Jenkins, Maureen Caddigan and Marty Nohe, and Commonwealth Transportation Board member Doug Koelemay.
WHERE: University Boulevard bridge over I-66
From I-66: Take Exit 43B to Route 29 North. Continue north on Route 29 for a quarter mile and turn right on University Boulevard.
From Route 234: Turn south onto Route 29. Continue south on Route 29 for three miles and turn left on University Boulevard.
