CENTRAL VIRGINIA ROAD CONDITIONS VDOT CONTINUES TO ATTACK WINTER STORM
RICHMOND—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) continues to fight the first major winter storm of the season. More than 800 VDOT trucks and a fleet of hired contractors are still working around the clock to make secondary roads passable. At this time the interstates and 50-80 percent of the primary roads in the Metro area are down to bare pavement with slush and ice in some locations. Crews will begin focusing on the secondary routes today. VDOT asks for motorists to be patient while our crews work to get all of the roads clear.
VDOT advises motorists to stay off the roads if at all possible at this time. If they do have to travel, motorists must slow down and use extreme caution.
Motorists are urged to call VDOT’s Highway Helpline at (800) 367-ROAD for the latest on road conditions or check out VirginiaDOT.org for road conditions maps.
