ROAD CONDITION UPDATE
6:30 a.m.


RICHMOND —The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will continue to clear debris from the roadways today and will open any roads that remain flooded once the water recedes.

There were approximately 40 roads temporarily closed in the Richmond District due to high water, downed trees or power lines as Tropical Depression Ernesto moved through the region yesterday. The majority of these were secondary roads.

The following list is the best estimate of road conditions as of 6:30 a.m. Additional changes to this list are expected.

RICHMOND METRO AREA

Richmond
  • Update: Interstate 195 north at Broad Street exit – right lane closed due to high water. Crews pumping water from the road. Lanes will remain closed until the rainfall subsides. CLEAR
Chesterfield
  • HIGH PROFILE – E. Hundred Road (Route 10 eastbound) at the Appomattox River closed due to high water. Motorists are being detoured to Hopewell via Interstate 295 south. Expect delays.

  • New: Otterdale Road is closed between Genito Road and Gamecock Road due to high water.

  • New: Huguenot Springs Road at Quakers Church Road closed due to a downed tree.

  • Genito Road westbound closed at the Powhatan/Chesterfield County line due to a downed tree. Expect major delays.

  • Buford Road closed between Mayflower Drive and North Providence Road due to high water.

  • Monza Drive closed near Hopkins Road due to a downed tree and power line.

  • Hopkins Road closed between Thurston Road and Alfaree Road due to high water.

  • Update: Newbys Bridge Road closed between Dorton Way and Walmsley Boulevard due to a downed tree and power line. OPEN

  • Selwood Road closed due to downed tree and power line.

  • Creek Side Drive closed between Bon View Drive and Whittington Drive due to high water.
Hanover
  • New: Route 606 east of Route 6430 closed due to a downed tree.

  • Route 615 (Creighton Road) closed in both directions due to high water.

  • Route 627 (Meadowbridge Road) is closed due to a downed tree.

  • Update: Interstate 95 south at mile marker 95, right lane blocked due to downed tree. CLEAR
Henrico
  • Update: Parham Road east to I-95 north ramp closed due to downed tree. OPEN

Amelia
  • Route 622 closed due to high water.

Charles City
  • Route 615 (Glebe Lane) between Route 612 and Route 5 closed due to a downed tree and power line.

Dinwiddie
  • New: Route 638 closed due to high water.

  • New: Route 605 between Route 678 and Route 621 due to high water.

  • New: Route 630 between Route 156 and Pumphouse Road.

  • New: Route 630 between Chester Road and Robin Road.

  • Route 672 between Route 603 and Route 775 closed due to high water.

  • Route 606 east (Oak Grove Road) between Route 605 (Spain Road) and Route 622 (Providence Road) closed due to high water.

  • Update: Golf Course Road closed due to high water. OPEN

  • Route 624 (Coleman Lake Road) between Route 460 and Route 613 closed due to high water.

  • Route 622 (Baltimore Road) between Route 460 and the Amelia County line closed due to high water.

  • Route 694 (Old Pine Road) from Route 622 to the dead end closed due to high water.
Goochland
  • New: Route 740 just west of Route 623 closed due to downed tree.

  • Rest area on Interstate 64 east at mile marker 169 closed due to power outage.
Lunenburg
  • Route 624 closed due to road washout.
New Kent
  • New: Route 638, one mile north of Route 611 closed due to high water.

  • New: Route 627 between the Colonies and Shores Subdivision, closed due to high water.

  • Rest area on I-64 west at mile marker 213 closed due to power outage.
Nottoway
  • Route 608 closed due to high water.
Prince George
  • New: Route 666 between Route 670 and Route 626 closed due to high water.

  • New: Route 603 closed due to high water.

  • Route 612 between Route 611 and Route 616 closed due to high water.

  • Update: Route 607 (Butler Branch Road) between Route F122 and Route 622 closed due to high water. OPEN
