Rob Griffith named assistant district administrator for construction

BRISTOL—Rob Griffith, P.E., was recently named assistant district administrator for construction for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Bristol District, which serves 12 counties in southwestern Virginia:  Washington, Smyth, Lee, Scott, Russell, Buchanan, Tazewell, Bland, Wise, Dickenson, Grayson, and Wythe.

In his new role, Griffith will be responsible for overseeing VDOT Bristol’s $410 million construction program.

Griffith is a 1992 graduate of Bluefield State College with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.  He is also a certified construction manager through the Construction Management Association of America.

He first came to VDOT as an area construction engineer in 2005, where he oversaw projects in Buchanan, Bland, Tazewell and Russell counties.  Griffith then moved to assistant district construction engineer, the post he served in prior to his promotion to district construction engineer. 

Griffith, a West Virginia native, resides in Bristol with his wife, Teresa, and their sons, Alex and Zack.
