4 a.m. Feb. 16 Travel Advisory: Watch for icy spots on main highways, bridges this morning

BRISTOL – The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) asks motorists to slow down this morning and be alert to icy patches on area roadways.  Motorists should especially use care on bridges and overpasses. 


As of 4 a.m., be alert to the following road conditions:

  • Be alert to icy patches on Interstate 81 in Wythe County and on Interstate 77 in Wythe and Bland counties.
  • The majority of primary highways in Scott, Dickenson, Washington, Smyth, Buchanan, Russell and Tazewell counties are clear.  Be alert to snow-covered and slick secondary roadways.
  • In Bland, Wythe, Lee, and Wise counties, the majority of main roads have scattered snow and ice patches.  Most secondary routes are snow-covered and slick.
  • Be alert to snow-covered sections of roadway on Routes 89, 94, 97 and the majority of secondary roads in Grayson County.




Unless conditions greatly deteriorate, this will be the last report for this storm.
