FALL TRANSPORTATION MEETING IS NOV. 23 IN CULPEPER
Public invited to learn more about local project applications submitted under House Bill 2

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation invites residents of central Virginia to attend an upcoming meeting on transportation funding and prioritization.

Monday, Nov. 23
4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Germanna Community College Daniel Technology Center
18121 Technology Drive, Culpeper

The meeting will begin with an open house, during which attendees can review and provide feedback on the candidate projects submitted for scoring under the new prioritization process legislated by House Bill Two (HB2).

At 5:30 p.m., a town hall discussion will provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to engage in discussion with state transportation officials about the projects, HB2 implementation and other types of transportation funding. There will be no formal public comment period.

The meeting will highlight the 17 project applications received in the nine-county Culpeper District, which request $314.6 million in funding through HB2. Statewide, there were 321 applications totaling $6.95 billion. Approximately $1 billion in funding is available.

Signed into law by Governor Terry McAuliffe, HB2 is a consistent and data-driven process to prioritize projects according to critical transportation needs. The applicant projects are currently being screened and scored. The scores will be released in January and will provide a helpful tool for use by the Commonwealth Transportation Board when making funding decisions next June.

If unable to attend a meeting, you may view the displays and provide your comments online. You can also mail comments on rail, public transportation and transportation demand management to Public Information Officer, DRPT, 600 E. Main St., Suite 2102, Richmond, Virginia 23219, or DRPTPR@drpt.Virginia.gov, and on highway projects to Infrastructure Investment Director, VDOT, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond, Virginia 23219, or Six-YearProgram@VDOT.Virginia.gov.

Comments will be accepted through Dec. 11.
