NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AT RT. 29-666 INTERCHANGE JUNE 13
Route 29 southbound ramp will open to traffic; Route 666 eastbound traffic will shift right
CULPEPER — A new traffic pattern will take effect Tuesday, June 13 at the western end of the Route 29/666 interchange project.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will open the permanent access ramp to Route 29 southbound. The temporary loop ramp will be closed.
Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road) eastbound traffic will shift right to allow crews to work in the median on the bridge.
In the remaining months of construction, crews will install permanent traffic signals at both ends of the bridge and perform final paving operations.
Motorists should use caution in the area while traffic adjusts to the new traffic pattern.
The $35.3 million project involves reconstructing the existing intersection as a grade-separated interchange for improved safety and mobility. Work began in May 2015 and is being performed by contractor Chemung Contracting Corp. of Mitchells. The project’s fixed completion date is Aug. 18.
