NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN ON ROUTE 3 MAY 10
Westbound lanes will open to two-lane traffic from Lignum to Clay Hill Road

CULPEPER — On Wednesday, May 10, motorists should expect a new traffic pattern on Route 3 (Germanna Highway), where a project is ongoing to widen the roadway to four lanes.

The Virginia Department of Transportation will open the newly constructed westbound lanes to traffic from Lignum to just west of Route 739 (Clay Hill Road). Traffic will remain in its current single-lane alignment in each direction from Route 739 to Route 710 (Clover Hill Road).

Motorists traveling eastbound between Route 739 and Lignum will continue traveling in the right lane while crews work in the left lane to place the final layer of asphalt and finish working in the median.

Drivers should use caution traveling through the area while traffic adjusts to the new traffic pattern.

The $23.6 million Route 3 project is anticipated to be complete in early fall. For more details about the project, visit www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/route_3.asp.
