RT. 22/208 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS PUBLIC HEARING FEB. 8
Public invited to learn more about project; comments accepted through Feb. 18

CULPEPER — The Virginia Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an upcoming design public hearing on the proposed intersection improvements on Route 22/208 (Davis Highway) at Route 767 (School Bus Road) in Louisa County.

The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Louisa County Library, 881 Davis Highway, Mineral.

No formal presentation is planned at the open house style hearing. VDOT staff will be available to discuss the project. The public can review project plans, ask questions and obtain information about the project’s timeline, cost and travel impacts, as well as provide feedback on the project orally or in writing.

VDOT proposes to relocate Route 767 (School Bus Road) from its existing alignment to create a four-way intersection at Route 22/208 and Route 625 (Chalk Level Road).  Left and right turn lanes will be added on Route 22/208 at the new four-way intersection to reduce a history of rear-end crashes. Paved shoulders will also be constructed along Davis Highway as a safety improvement for bicyclists. This project was the fourth highest scoring SMART SCALE project in the district when Louisa County applied for funding in 2015.

Written comments can also be submitted by mail to Justin Warfield, Project Manager, 1601 Orange Road, Culpeper, VA 22701 through Feb. 18. Email comments can be sent to Justin.Warfield@vdot.virginia.gov.

Anyone requiring special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting may contact VDOT at 540-829-7500, 800-367-7623 or TTY/TDD 711.

More information about the project can be found on VDOT’s website at http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/culpeper/school_bus_road.asp.
