“Pardon Our Dust” meeting on upcoming construction work has been rescheduled for Monday, March 10

FREDERICKSBURG—Due to predicted weather conditions, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has postponed a “Pardon Our Dust” meeting scheduled for Monday, March 3 on upcoming construction work to improve the intersection of Route 1, Route 17 Business, and Route 218 in Stafford County.

The meeting has been rescheduled for:

Monday, March 10, 2014

5-7 p.m.

VDOT Fredericksburg District Auditorium

86 Deacon Road

Fredericksburg, VA 22405

Stop by anytime between 5-7 p.m. to meet the VDOT construction team and contractor, view construction plans and maps, and ask questions.

A brief presentation on the project will be delivered at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Construction will begin in March on a nearly $23 million improvement project at the intersection. The project will reduce the average wait time for drivers at the intersection. The intersection is being widened to make room for construction of new turn lanes and through lanes, sidewalks, and medians. With more space for vehicles to pass through the intersection on each traffic signal cycle, the delay for motorists will be reduced.

The project will be completed in September 2015.

A $4.9 million construction contract for this project was awarded to Tavares Concrete Co. Inc., of Lorton, Va.

For anyone unable to attend the “Pardon Our Dust” meeting, all materials will be posted to the project website by Monday, March 10:,_route_17_business,_and_route_218_butler_road.asp
