VDOT POSTPONES “PARDON OUR DUST” MEETING ON ROUTE 17 RECONSTRUCTION IN TAPPAHANNOCK
Meeting will be rescheduled, with a new date to be announced
FREDERICKSBURG—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has postponed tonight’s “Pardon Our Dust” meeting at the Essex County School Board Office on upcoming construction work to reconstruct Route 17 near June Parker Marina in Tappahannock.
A new meeting date will announced later this week.
The project will reduce the occurrence of flooding on Route 17, a hurricane evacuation route, from just north of Marsh Street to just south of Airport Road. Traffic on Route 17 is being reduced from four lanes to two lanes in the work zone.
Construction work began earlier this week, and will conclude by May 2016.
The project is estimated to cost approximately $10 million. The project contractor is Bryant Contracting Inc., of Toano, Va.
