NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN SLATED FOR GORDON ROAD AT ROUTE 3
New pavement markings will provide additional right turn lane
FREDERICKSBURG – When the paving project on Gordon Road in Spotsylvania County is complete, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will re-stripe the northbound side to provide an additional right turn lane at the Route 3 intersection in Spotsylvania County.
The new pavement markings will begin at the entrance to the Gordon Road Commuter Lot and extend to the Route 3 intersection. The new striping will provide two right turn lanes from northbound Gordon Road to eastbound Route 3.
The additional turn lane will minimize delays and vehicle stacking at the Gordon Road/Route 3 intersection during peak travel times. According to a recent traffic count, approximately 530 vehicles turn right onto Route 3 eastbound during the morning commute.
The re-striped Gordon Road/Route 3 intersection will feature two left turn lanes onto westbound Route 3 and two right turn lanes onto eastbound Route 3.
