PILKINGTON ROAD BRIDGE NOW OPEN IN ESSEX COUNTY
VDOT bridge crew replaced structurally deficient, timber bridge with a new concrete span
FREDERICKSBURG – Route 635 (Pilkington Road) in Essex County opened to traffic this afternoon after the Virginia Department of Transportation completed a bridge replacement.
Prior to the project, the timber bridge on Pilkington Road was structurally deficient and posted with a 16 ton weight limit. A state bridge crew installed a new concrete slab span structure.
The road was closed to through traffic in March 2016 for the bridge replacement project.
